Truck starts but only runs with foot on the throttle

Man - I had that problem!! If your truck has a vacuum brake booster and there's a tear in the diaphragm, (vacuum leak) your truck won't idle/run. Mine ran fine until we ran out of gas. "Perfect Storm" because I redid everything in fuel delivery (TBI, IAC, TPS, pump, filter, etc.) and Ignition system. But then I noticed the brake pedal - I thought it was just needing pads. Runs and idles great now! I also changed the EGR (which didn't throw a code) which really helped. The sensors can be old and "hafl-ass" work and not throw a code, and when you change them - wow, what a wonderful difference. You can change them out for less than a tow to a shop.
