1989 5.7 Chevy c1500

(No spark, no fuel) Iv just gotten this
truck about a month ago. This truck
runs excellent. Starts up and drives
like a beauty. Does not  hesitate to
start. I live in Kansas so it gets pretty
cold. One day morning i got in my
truck and it started up just fine like
nothing. ( Its 6 degrees outside and
snowing) I drove it to school and
parked it. Later on that day I got back
in my truck and it would not start. It
cranks over just perfectly fine but no
start. So I had to get it towed. I kept
trying to get it to start but only got it
to crank. So I put in new spark plugs,
new spark plug wires and new coil
and new  ignition control module. And
still nothing. So I tested the Pick up
coil and I’m getting good readings.(
.3-1.5 volts if I’m not mistaken). I also
tested to see if my spark plugs are
firing and still nothing. I’m getting no
fuel and no spark.  I’m wondering if it
could be my ignition switch but I’m
not for sure

have you checked your battery first it should read 12 to 12.60 if not your truck isnt holding a charge this is just a question bc you didnt mention checking the battery. you said you worked on your truck make sure every thing you took apart is put back together just to be sure. I have a 89 gmc sierra and the starter solenoid went out but i have to replay my starter switch too.

But what would cause this to happen so randomly, I mean I don’t think it is the battery because it will turn over just perfectly right now, and I get no sign of fuel nor spark maybe it could be a relay or a short under the steering column

check all your grounds first thats were id start then take a look at the ignition switch it sits on top of your steering column and youll have to probably disassemble the steering wheel to get to it

also check this as well 1. you have no gas(i have seen people tell me they have gas and they really dont) 2. if your engine cranks but cranks slowly then its your battery (just check it to be sure) 3. battery terminals connections loose 4.you might have a clogged fuel filter or a fuel pump going out(its in the tank) aslo clean the fuel lines 5.have you replaced distributor cap, distributor and rotor, or just cleaned up the points 6.could be a defective oil pump/pressure pump switch. 7. this probably isnt the issue but low compression could be a factor 8.have you dont any adjustments to your valves they could be out of adjustment 9.have you seen any water in the fuel maybe there is a small hole in the tank and water is getting in the carb. 10.defective ignition coil (now you said you replaced it so i wouldnt worry to much about that but id just troubleshoot to be safe. 11.dirty or clogged fuel injector 12.like i said earlier you could have a wet or damaged ignition components 13.did you get the correct spark plugs if so make sure the gapping is right on each one 14.broken, loose, or disconnected wiring at the starting circut. 15.faulty coil(again just troubleshoot) 16.timing chain failure or wear affecting valve timing 17. loose distributor (changing ignition timing). turn the distributor body as necessary to start engine then adjust ignition timing asap i hope this helps some if not we will get this figured out again just check these things to be 100% sure.

Also I did do a code check and connect the “A” “B” together with a paper clip, and I’m getting a code 12

did it show you what the code meant and are you talking about the solenoid for your starter? if so its on your starter on the right side of the engine block

It’s possible the starter and/or the fuel pump relays went out. Also check your fusible links at the junction box to see if you have power before and after, then trace them to the fuse box. May be a bad wire or connection
