I put a new cd player in my 1989 chevy silverado. The speakers played for a minute and didn't play anymore after that. What could cause the speakers to jump on then off and not come back on????

check the ground wire in your wire harness, question are did you use a new harness from truck to head unit or try to wire direct from truck bypass additional harness needed as I believe that truck would have two plugs to stock radio.70-.1870 metra to radio from trk.. or you may have a bad deck/unit ... you can test each speaker with a 9v battery, I usually do this before install... and is this only when driving or sitting still. Sounds like a short two speaker system or 4..
