1989 3rd Gen Chevy C/K 1500 305 TBI

Asked by Dizzy Oct 30, 2022 at 03:43 PM about the 1989 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Scottsdale RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1989 Chevrolet Scottsdale had a head gasket issue. So
I tore her down replaced every gasket I came across. I
rebuild her only to be stuck at first with a crank no start
with backfire. I eliminated the backfire by replacing a
vacuum line that had been damaged. Now she cranks and
fails to start still. Runs no codes. She's got spark, fuel and
I removed the EGR temporarily to adjust mixture but still
no luck. Any helpful Intel from y'all would be greatly
appreciated.

Yep recheck your base timing, it is very common that folks get GMs 180 degrees off.
