1988 Silverado taillights

Asked by Lulu882 Jul 03, 2016 at 07:01 AM about the 1988 Chevrolet C/K 1500 Silverado RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm not sure what the problem is, but my blinkers and
brake lights work if my headlights aren't on. But if I turn
my headlights on, nothing in the back works. If the
headlights are off and I turn on a turn signal they blink at
normal speed, but if I apply my foot to the brake pedal,
they blink super fast. What could be the problem?

When the blinkers blink fast, that is telling you that you have a burnt out bulb. I would change out all the bulbs. Also you may have a bad head light switch, but I would start with the bulbs, and maybe the flasher.

Correct, but they all work when the headlights are off. The blinkers only blink fast if I push the brake. I have replaced the bulbs, that wasn't the problem.

Start cleaning up ground connections first, then I would look at the headlight switch.

I am having the same problem. Where was the ground located that you were having problems with?
