overheating

Asked by Guru1N5ZJ Sep 13, 2019 at 08:10 PM about the 2000 Ford Ranger XLT Standard Cab LB

temp will run good for twenty miles or so at a stop
and go travel . then all the sudden  a stoplight the
temp will go up to hot then go right back down as
soon as I start going again.i took thermostat  out
and still doing it I dont understand  help?
