On 2017 Lincoln MKZ is there much difference between performance with AWD verus front wheel drive

I doubt there is any noticble difference. There is a little extra weight but that is about it. Not sure but the MKZ is probably part time AWD which means it drives like a 2WD car most of the time.
The 2017 MKZ 3.0 in the AWD is 400 HP and it is 350 HP in the FWD version. So yes the AWD will have 50 extra HP on tap. We own a 2014 MKZ AWD 3.7 and really like it. Ours has 300 HP which is plenty of power. Also ours has been trouble free except for the audio system amplifier which was replaced under warranty. They are great cars.
