Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I changed the fuel filter and that didn't seem to make a differance , I did check spark on all cyl. and they all sparked to plugs. then I checked the fuel where it hooks up on right fender well before it goes to the fuel rail it had plenty of gas coming from there. before this it had started running crappy and i checked fire on all cyl. when car was running and it had one cyl. that didn.t seem to be firing like the other that would bog motor down , this cyl didn't matter. Now a couple weeks later now it won't start But it sounds like it wan'ts to start .

You can have plenty of fuel and get what you're experiencing with a bad fuel pressure regulator. It's located on the fuel rail and has a vacuum hose running to it. The only way to check is to connect a pressure gauge (0-100 psi) and turn on the ignition w/o starting the engine. The pump will run for about 5 seconds and stop. This is normal with the engine not running. You should have 60psi +/- a little each way. Too much will flood the engine and make it hard to start. Too little will give you just enough to make it try to start. One "redneck method" to check the relay is to disconnect the vacuum hose and crank the engine. That will give you full pressure and the engine should start if the pressure was too low. Good Luck!
