I am trying to remove the factory roof racks on my 2017 Transit Connect XLT.

Asked by Michael Jul 04, 2021 at 02:44 PM about the 2017 Ford Transit Connect Wagon XLT LWB FWD with Rear Liftgate

Question type: General

So I took one loose end cap to my locksmith to make a key which unlocked
the other three. I called everyone and YouTubed this to no avail. Then I
"discovered" that the key releases a long Torx-like wrench which can unbolt
to two bolts beneath the plastic cover (which was not obvious). I turned and
turned the bolts but nothing loosened. Can someone please advise me on
how to remove the 2017 factory roof racks from the roof rails? My 2017 rear-
ended a Honda CRV and usaa totaled it. I bought 2021 that comes with roof
rails but no roof racks so I am trying to recover my 2017s. Thank you in
advance.
