What's the dealer fee for and is there a limit of
what they charge

In Florida some dealers charge as much as $1k dealer fee. It's really dealer profit. There are fees required by law (DMV fees) and dealers usually overestimate the amount, pay it on your behalf, then send you a refund check for the difference (what you paid vs. actual) because many states do not allow dealers to mark up fees required by law.
