Engine will not shut off

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2017 Cadillac ATS that will not shut off when I push the Start/Stop
button. I changed the button and I still have the same problem. It continues to
run without the Que, the Switch, and with the battery cable removed. I have to
remove the ECM fuse to turn it off.

I think you should find a competent technician or garage and have it fixed A.S.A.P. Removing the batt cable's not a good idea .

better to pull the fuel pump fuse... computer relearning is not ideal.

I don't pull the cable to stop it, as it will not work. These were methods that I used to test it so far to monitor the effects on the engine, I also pulled the start/stop switch and neither had an effect on the engine. Another guy mentioned that the Start/Stop Capicator my need to be reset or changed. I drained and reset the module with my scanner, and it was no help. I later replaced the start/stop capacitor control module which did not help either. I was curious if anyone had ever had to replace the actual start/stop capacitor before and what are the symptoms that it is bad?
