light came on check engine checked all the norms  oil,water,fluids

Did you attach a code reader to see if there were any codes ? The check engine light notifies you of conditions including engine temp, liquid (levels and temp), timing, emissions system operating condition, fuel system operating condition, and other various required information for the system to operate at it's best.
