Asked by sarbazkuch Jan 11, 2021 at 01:08 PM about the 2017 Honda Accord LX FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Should i change transmission (cvt) filter when changing the
fluid or just leave it? the car is 17 accord cvt, and it has a
seald transmission which means if I change the
transmission filter i need to open it. also it doesn't mention
anything on owner's manual about transmission filter but i
heard it form internet that it's essential for the health of the
transmission.

It's only 4 years old I wouldn't worry about tranny fluid unless it starts to gets brown and burnt smelling . Apparently you have to remove a fill plug to see it's condition by putting your finger in it . Then you can siphon or vacuum it out and replace with honda ATF , The filter has a large surface area and shouldn't get clogged for some time . If you insist on having it changed bring it to honda dealership .
