Brake lights not working

Asked by kdawg1959 May 05, 2013 at 07:37 PM about the 1997 Isuzu Rodeo 4 Dr S V6 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1997 rodeo has a brake light issue. I have tail lights, back up lights, and turn signals but no brake lights. The 3rd brake light above the rear window works but the 2 lower ones do not. This is a recent problem. I've checked the fuse, the bulbs, and the wiring at the lights. ???

So youve checked the wiring you say. What did you find when you checked it? Do you have 12 volts to the bulbs. Do you have ground for both?

The third brake light and the lower lights all are (or should be) tied together. Trace the wires as far as you can to see where they join. If you can't find where the connection was lost, run a new wire.
