Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Cranks and "almost" catches. Changed plugs, wires, coil pack today and no difference. Can hear fuel pump coming on (it was replaced two years ago). No check engine light, spark tester shows spark. What else can  I check easily?

Did you try starter fluid? Are you sure you are getting fuel to the injection? Might be a bad fuel filter.

Contour did not have a 4.0 DOHC. IS it the 2.0?

Could the timing belt be broken?

Sorry yes I meant 4 cyl. 2.0.... tried starter fluid but no help. Timing belt was replaced two years ago and I have had timing belts go on other cars and you can easily hear the difference when cranking. Fuel pump replaced two years ago as well... can't remember if they changed fuel filter at same time but starter fluid didn't help so guessing that's not the issue? thx!

Starting fluid and no firing probably means you have no spark. I can't remember if the Contour 2.0 had an ignition module or not. If you can figure out why no spark and the timing belt is good it should run.
