Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 1989 dodge shadow base with a 2.5 L and 3 speed auto. There is a
ticking sound until the car warms up. It has 64,365 miles and is well taken car
of. Any ideas on what is happening.

Sounds like you are not getting enough oil to the lifters at start up, You may want to check your oil pressure or try a lower grade oil....
I am using the recommended oil. Where would you attach the oil pressure gauge as it has none in the gauge cluster.
I have changed the oil 3 times since acquiring the car. It had made the noise since the start. Before that it had sat for 6 years. It loses about half the safe oil (the area on the dip stick that is supposed to stay between) threw the valve cover gasket. It has the cork and rubber 4 part kind.
This is inside the oil filler hole. The thing you see Is the splash guard/baffle on the cam shaft.
It is not running right now. A lot of lines and electrics are disconnected as the interior is ripped apart to fix a leaky A/C condenser. But any way i will try the sea come when it is back together.
The A/C box has foam that covers those holes. It is where the A/C lines and coolant lines go in for heat and cold. And yes it is a project car for enjoyment.
