remove instrument cluster

Have removed surrounding bezel, dash, light switch, and mounting screws. Cluster is loose but I cannot pull it out, nor reach behind it to unplug whatever is holding it. Need to replace the light bulbs. unbelievably difficult for such a simple task. about to cry over this job

The speedometer cable is holding you back. You may have to disconnect the cable from the transmission then push the cable and housing up into the engine compartment and from there you can pull the cluster out. The lite sockets are prone to breaking so handle them carefully.

there are two harness that need to be removed. One by the ac controls and one by the drivers side door frame. Put the car in lowest tranny position ( car must be powered up.) then the cluster will move out over the shifter and you will see the plugs. Unplug and it will come out but be careful of bezell as it is fragile.
