Battery dies after jumper cables are removed

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello i have a 1985 Chevrolet Celebrity with a 2.5
iron duke. This car has been giving me problems
since i replaced the alternator. The alternator does
charge however when it would sit for awhile it
would drain the battery. Now when i hook it up to
jumper cables it starts right up but when the
cables are removed it dies 2 minutes later and
theres no power going to anything. I looked for
broken or loose or corroded
connections....alternator is good....battery brand
new. Someone told me that the starter relay could
be bad and i was also wondering where it would
even be located. I checked the usual suspect items
and everything is fine. Any help with this is
appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I always wondered why it wouldnt come on when it would act up. It does when you first turn the key on but while driving when it had an issue it wouldnt.
