Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hey I have a 1995 Isuzu Rodeo (2wd V6 engine.) My transmission has been acting up
lately. The main issue is when I'm driving at high speeds (50 mph or so) my
engine/transmission starts to lose power, sometimes I have to put the pedal to the
metal in order for it maintain it's speed or go faster. A guy told me I just need to change
out the filter (how much would a filter cost?) Also I recently got work done on my
engine so it possibly be something had happen then? Because my transmission did
have a leak before and I put stop leak in it about a month or so before I got my engine
worked on. Thanks for your time.

2002 transmission only goes in reverse. (2wd, 6cly) (and a little bit of body damage). 1998 motor oil cap came off and engine froze up. (4wd, 6cly). That is all the info I have on the 1998 model. A friend of a friend will just give the whole car to me if it will help. My thoughts were if the 2002 engine would work with the 1998 transmission, I could put the good engine in the 1998 model .
