Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Me and my fiance just bought a 1999 Ford
expedition with a new motor put in we took it to the
carwash yesterday had shut it off when we went to
start it the starter got stuck my fiance is
mechanically inclined he had to tap on the starter
so that we could get home once we got the truck
home we tried to get it started back up and it
would not start now my lights will not go off and I
think my starter is burnt what would cause this we
already have a new solenoid

If you had to rap on the starter to get it to turn over then the starter itself is bad.
