BMW air conditioning issues

Asked by GuIruTQQFY Jul 08, 2018 at 08:23 AM about the 2017 BMW 3 Series 320i Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just purchased a 2017 320i two months ago and I
am having issues with the air conditioner blowing.
In hot temps and while I am driving several times
the air conditioner has stopped blowing. I don't feel
any air coming out of the vents. But I can hear it. I
took it to the dealership. They said the line was
frozen and they fixed it and adjusted the temp
control. However? Later that day, the same issue
occurred while driving it. Extremely frustrating, can
anyone offer advice. I take my car back for
servicing this week.

It almost sounds like the evaporator is freezing up. this scenario would account for air not passing through. Or there could be moisture in the system which could cause the lines to freeze. I would have the dealer check it again when you bring it in. For a 2017, this obviously shouldn't be happening. I would demand that the A/C system be evacuated and recharged.

In our 2017 340i, the cold air stops being cold if we switch from Auto AC to Max AC. It stays cold if we stay on one of those settings without going from one to the other. To fix it, either shut off the car to let it reset or, turn on the fan without AC for 10-15 minutes and then turn the AC back on.
