It's pretty obvious, you have to refill the vehicle with DEF before you run dry. At that point the vehicle won't let you start it. It's urea that is injected into the exhaust to clean up the diesel emission. Read your owners manual. The DEF will cost you around $50 to refill yourself, or $100 if you have the dealer do it. Not sure on your Evoque, but some LR the fill cap is on the left fender when you open the hood. The cap should say DEF and or AdBlue.
