Ford Edge 2017 Screen goes black after 20 minutes of driving

Asked by rachelsomers Jan 31, 2020 at 02:21 PM about the 2017 Ford Edge SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a used Ford Edge SE 2017 LAST WEEK. I drive it
off the lot and the navigation screen goes black after 20
minutes of driving. Took it back. They rebooted it to factory
settings. I drive off. 20 minutes later. Does it again. So that
following Monday I took car back and they tested
diagnostic on APIM. Ordered a new APIM. Wednesday, I
pick up car with new APIM. Drive off. 20 minutes later it
does it again. I am beyond livid. I have 3 days to cancel my
contract with Ford. They asked for one more chance to fix
it. Ordered a new screen but I have a feeling it's more than
just the screen. Why after 20 minutes of driving? If I turn
the car on and off while sitting there. Screen does not
come back on. I must open the door. Close it. Lock car.
Unlock and restart car. Boom it works. But only 20 minutes
of driving. Help me!!!

I have a brand new 2020 Ford Edge and the screen goes black almost every time I drive it. It will be on for one trip and off after I make a stop and turn the vehicle off. I am realizing this obviously has been on ongoing issue with these vehicles. I wish I had read this sooner. I have made at least 15 trips to the dealership. The computer has been replaced twice and has had one factory reset. Now, Ford is concerned that my Samsung S7 is the root of the black screen but my phone has been disconnected from the Ford and at times completely off and the Ford screen still goes black with the audio playing in the background.
