I have a 2010 Jeep liberty sport 4wd. When I put it in 4wd last night worked fine. Now I have the 4wd and svc 4wd light on while in 2wd driving down the road. What is causing this and is it an easy fix?
Amy Lily your Jeep is stuck in 4 Low
Ryan after you were done in four wheel drive did you put it in reverse for about 15 ft to disengage it even if you have the shift-on-the-fly stuff you should still do that
Anybody with Jeep libertys just put it in reverse for 15 ft after you take it out of 4 wheel drive I'm sure some of you still have to lock the hubs in and don't even know what that is
4 wheel drive works but ,servor light stays on?

I just went through this with my 06 Liberty. I t would not disengage from 4 x 4, until it loudly clunked out. It turns out that when we replaced the driver side front tire, it was 1/2 inch higher than the left side and that was the problem. I got new tires and my 4x4 problem went away.

For a 2012 Liberty had the svc 4wd light, trac control and abs lights. Replaced the two back abs sensors to start. Went for quick ride and all those lights went away. Shifting into 4 high just fine now. Wheel speed obviously makes a difference

50$ to replace all 4 abs sensors. Tip; if difficult to remove from the rear axle take a thin flathead Screw driver and pry a little on the sides until it moves. The right one was broken when i got to it. Ended up removing the brake caliper, 2 bolts, and the rotor. Pushed it out from inboard side of the rotor. Clean up the holes with some sandpaper or other mechanical means in order to ease reinstallation.
For anyone else acquiring a used 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty and finding it taking the strength of Hercules to get it in and out of 4wd Lo with online instructions repeatedly ONLY saying do it going 2-3 MPH there is so much more in the manual about when to involve the brake, when to shift your car into neutral or engaging the clutch, just how to pull the lever back from 4wd high to get to 4wd low and then the procedure to get it back without all your strength while it makes horrible noises and not moving until the 4th or 5th attempt. Please find a copy of the manual for your year. At the very least know this put it in Neutral, your gear not the neutral on the 4wd shifter and shift while slowly coasting. I do appreciate learning about backing up 15 feet to get it completely out of 4wd High. My 2005 Jeep Liberty Sport Limited kept flashing the 4Wd high light when it was supposed to be back in 2 WD and the reverse thing stopped that.
