Grinding/creaking noise

This sounds like a gearbox/clutch issue, and usually very expensive. Is your car manual? If so, does this noise only happen in certain gears?

Hi Adam, Sorry for the delay in post, I was not emailed that you replied! The Liberty is not manual, it is an automatic. Either way, the noise has only been heard at speeds of 20mph or less. Again, thank you in advance

You might try checking the lug nuts on the wheel. Sometimes when there is a loose nut the pulsating happens. If it is, blame the mechanics. Its their fault for not checking the nuts when they did the tires. It is also thier fault if the nuts are crossthreaded or too tight cause then you can't get them off when you need to change a tire on your own.

I think its the alternator bearing.Take a hollow tube or hose 12 inches long and while the engine is idling put one end in your ear and the other near the alternator, if the grinding is louder then replace alternator.

busted / cracked wheel bearings perhaps? does the sound become louder when you speed up? if it does, its just the bearing...

I'm thinking something with the rear differential. That's where I'm at now with my 2004 liberty. I have same noises intermittently and I thought once I removed the pumpkin cover I'd see metal shavings or something. No metal shavings but I'm sure the noises are from here.
