07 Yukon Demali won't start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Had my vehicle serviced Wednesday at a local GM dealer.  Drove it home fine and a couple of evenings as well.  Started today and drove to a friend's house and it will no start.  Seems all accessories are powering fine but no engine start.  Tried cables, booster, cleaning terminals, etc.  No click, no sound at all from the starter.

check to see if you have a start signal at the starter.

Yukon will not start if the starter solenoid shorts out to ground. Just tested mine thru the fuse box starter relay, ground was present until i applied a load then ground was gone. Tested with test light prior to loading it and the light was very dim, indicating little to no ground in the solenoid. When this happens, the truck will either shut down, not start, or not crank, or all 3 of these things. I tested everything before I came to pulling the starter, after testing all circuits from ignition switch to fuse boxes and finally to starter, I could cycle starter via jumper wire thru starter relay terminals, but since there's a short to ground inside the case of the starter, the computer or PCM is getting no signal, so the fuel pump won't run either until I replace the starter. While it is off, I checked wires for damage from heat and vibrations, and reaped them with electrical tape and cleaned contacts with sandpaper. If your truck won't crank, or if it stopped running, or you have all kinds of faults in your electrical system, then you need to check the ground to your starter solenoid because that's what needs to be checked and replaced first. Now, if you did this,,and it still doesnt start, you may have to reprogram your keys
