03 Liberty Starting and Shutting Down when no gas is applied ...

Asked by Meredith Oct 16, 2010 at 03:57 PM about the 2003 Jeep Liberty Limited

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 03 with 111,000 miles on it.  The battery has died twice in as many days.  When I jump it, it starts, then dies unless I keep the gas applied.  As soon as I take my foot off, the engine dies, lights come on, but radio, A/C. power windows, etc. all work.  When I took the jumper cables off, it did the same thing - started, then died.  Anyone have any ideas on what the problem is?

I have the same jeep same problem it’s your security system lock and then unlock your doors with your key then disconnected battery for a few minutes then connect it back do the door thing again the fool here is to get the red light on your dash to not blink when you lock the door because that means your security system is shut down. Don’t worry it will come back on once you lock it with the key fob

I had the same problem. Thank you thank you worked for me too!! 2009 Jeep Liberty. Disconnected the battery reset the security system stayed on! If the red light between the speedometer and odometer flashes after it dies just do this.
