my 2002 jeep liberty sport will not start at all. when i turn the key it doesnt
make a noise. my auto teacher said it might be the starter but he never
actually looked at it.

Provide direct current to srarter for check up starter start or not i thinking there is may be problem starter corbon brushes if you provide direct current to starter and still do not take current please hit starter with iron bar and then start if self work then you need to repair starter or install new starter.

battery might be low , are the headlights nice and bright ? If you have power there may be a relay that'll click when you hit the key , if not switch relay for an identical one and see if it helps, scan for codes even if the light ain't on
