Will a hard top from a 1997 wrangler Sahara fit on a 2002 wrangler sport?

According to Wikipedia the TJ years ranged from 1997 - 2006 So based on this assessment alone it would appear that your Sahara hardtop would fit on the newer model. I would make sure that the dates on the hard top are correct as no after market top may fit perfectly. Also, one may need a few small brackets and make adjustments over time.

Just make sure all of the mounting hardware is included and get others to help support the top with you during the installation.
