Jeep Grand Cherokee 2000 over heating

Asked by GuruX58C3 Oct 06, 2018 at 08:31 PM about the 2000 Jeep Cherokee Limited 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 Jeep grand Cherokee that over heated ( I had a hole in the
coolant hose) we replaced the hose and the next day still over heated. I put
more coolant in and a couple hours the coolant was gone and it was back to
over heating. We have a replaced the water pump and the thermostat and
we are still over heating. what else could be going on? Also my gauges for
temp only read to 125 but there thermostat is to 195 ?

An air lock is my guess. Look up "how to purge air from a cooling system".

have you checked the fan? I had the same problem and replaced the same things(thermostat&water pump) and when the fan was replaced, no more overheating Or maybe a new radiator cap.
