I have a 1999 jeep Cherokee

Question type: General
I keep having a problem with my jeep is started a couple of months ago. When I have the
engine on and in the parked position it is idling to high and check engine light is on.
When I put it into reverse is acts like it wants to cut off? I have had the mechanic clear
the codes and every time it says engine is to hot and engine is to cold. What should I do?
The mechanic that I go to doesn't want to mess with it.

I would check the temperature sensor and maybe new thermostat.

Would also check and clean Throttle Body and Idle Air Control Valve.

Thanks for comments we were thinking the same thing we're changing out the thermostat and sensor today

Well we changed the thermostat and sensor we also changed the O2 sensor and cleaned the throttle control body. She sounds better but still idles high when in park do you have any other suggestions. Thanks
