Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I am trying to remove the door lock for my survivor 65 Ford Fairlane to take to
the keysmith. I can find nothing on the internet of how to do this without
damaging any parts.

If I remember correctly you remove the door panel and slide the lock retainer clip from the lock cylinder.
Are there any special tips I will need to do this? Are there any videos that show the process? I definitely don't want to break anything. Keeping this in pristine condition is my number one priority. Why do I need to do the same for the passenger door and trunk?
Do you want everything keyed the same?
If I have a key made from the door lock for the ignition as the locksmith asked for, won't that work in the other locks since it is the same configuration?
Also, is the key for the door typically the same for the trunk? Seems we only had 1 key. The trunk is closed and I can't get into it without the key.
Ignition and doors are one key and the trunk and glove box are another. Look on the trunk lock cylinder and the ignition lock cylinder for the key codes. Hope that helps!! Jim
Thank you all for your help. I appreciate it very much. My husband passed away and I need to sell this vehicle to help pay property taxes! It is in amazing original condition so I don't want to do any damage getting the key made.
Problem is I have no key to start it but maybe I could get it trailered?? Thank you for the thought!
It was the mobile locksmith that wanted me to bring the lock in! Apparently he can’t help me via mobile with this age of a car.
What engine does it have? Post a few photos of the car.
