my 99 grand cherokee 4.0 is leaking coolant near rear main seal area.what could this be?

freeze plug at back of head could be prob. Stick your finger into it and see if its wet. My experence has been that head will have to be removed. There is also freeze plugs on driver side and I think there is one behind the flywheel.
