Wont stay running

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was given this car and it ran fine for a day
and a half, then the check engine light came
on the car lurches rapidly on acceleration, it
then stalled and would not start again until
completely cooled. Now it will start when
cold run foe maybe a quarter mile and stall,
refusing to start again until completely cold
again.  Prior to my receiving the car it sat for
at least 6 months. The fuel doesnt look bad
and ots been suggested that the distributor
os bad. Please help!

These cars normally run forever. Scan those codes and find the problems. If it's a gift, you can afford the parts to make it run right.
