Oil pressure gauge just started to drop to zero while driving.

Asked by James Nov 10, 2015 at 10:57 PM about the 1997 Jeep Wrangler Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When slowing or putting in neutral it
spikes up to almost normal.
Speeding up it drops suddenly back
to zero.   The engine was running
normal during a 4 mile distance
home.  Temp gauge was normal.
This is a TJ Sport standard 5 speed
1997 6cyl Jeep

Is your oil level really low? If the oil level is normal I might suspect the oil filter has collapsed internally and is blocking most but not all the oil flow.
