Why won't my Jeep Crank?

Asked by JeepUpKeep Nov 30, 2017 at 10:49 AM about the 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4-Door RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the Alternator and Battery on my 1996 Jeep Cherokee and it won't crank.  I can jump it off but it won't crank on its own.  When I insert the key there was no buzzing or noise at all and no crank.  The next day when I tried, there was buzzing when I inserted the key in the ignition until I tried to crank it and then nothing.

Check the terminal connections on the battery.I bet the cable ends arent tight or are corroded. When you "jump it" you have a tight connection to the cables and it starts. When you dont, your battery isnt connected properly
