1996 jeep cherokee sport Driver door wont open

Asked by Brandi Mar 10, 2013 at 03:09 PM about the 1996 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have pulled the door panel it isnt locked,
all of the parts seem to be working correctly,
im afraid its the actual claws that arent
moving when we try to use the door which
is hard to fix or look at because it wont
detatch from the pin to open the door. How
do i get this open without destroying it to fix
the problem

Spray WD40 or PB Blaster at the latch and keep working the rods to get it freed up. Once they are moving and the door opens, lubricate with real oil.

Everything seems to move except the claw that latches on the pin. All of the rods are connected
