Swiping my engine in ford ranger

I have a 99 ranger with a 4.0 engine with
4x4 and was wanting to know if I can put
that engine in a 2000 ranger that has 2wd
but there both automatics and have v6s in
them but the 2000 model has a 3.0 in it will
the 4.0 fit with transmission fit in the 2000
ranger????

It should make sure the transmissions are the same and the gear ratios are the same as well.
