Check Engine Light comes on
Asked by larrysold Jul 30, 2013 at 09:56 PM about the 1994 Jeep Wrangler S
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
94 Jeep 4 cylinder yj.
I get check engine light after driving a while - stays on till I shut engine off. When I
start up again, it stays off for about 5 minutes then on again.
Mechanic says he checked everything and everything is OK. Codes 22, 33, 55.
Recommended and replaced the following parts: MOPAR #'s: 53030189, 53030497,
and 2946079.
Troubles NOT CORRECTED only the CEL stayed off a little longer than before. He
also recommended a fitting # 33004175 but says MOPAR doesn't make it any more
and it is not available.
Question: Is it likely this is the cause and if it is, where can I get the part?

should be PXXX for powertrain~ 22,33,55 mean very little to me~ probably is like an O2 sensor, evaporative emissions, coolant temp failure...ambient air IAC sensor temperature sensor...could possibly have a damaged fuel pump regulator...that would not trip a code...but would make it run poopy because of a lack of fuel pressure and a vacuum leak causing high-idle and powerless performance~

1994....a fairly low-tech buggy...still has a distributor 4.0 Liter V6?

was surprised that AMC corporation supplied these motors for a lot of years~

my bad, this vehicle is an OBD-I vehicle meaning you've got to count the number of flashes then look in the book to find out what they mean~
