1993 jeep Cherokee country 212xxx get fuel, great spark, great compression.

Asked by Trenton Jun 15, 2018 at 03:20 PM about the 1993 Jeep Cherokee Country 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Howdy all, so I have a 1993 jeep Cherokee country
212xxx miles, inline 6.  4.0 automatic 4x4 it's rusty
and dirty, I only drive it to work, no play.

So we've ran test to check the spark, it's getting
great spark,  we checked fuel and compression,
that all checks  out great. The mechanic that had
time  to do these diagnostics for me, since I have
basic mechanical skills, no longer has time to help.
So I'm turning to anyone with jeep knowledge,
Originally stalled out after I replaced the alternator,
and drove into the drive way, restarted it 4 times no
issues, ran great, besides a small misfire I've been
searching for the issue of. Stalls, won't start, it fired
once after adding starting fluid.also new cap&
rotor and plugs and wires. Was suggested it seems
the fuel is stopping after the fuel rail. One of the
alternator wires were loose, the thick black rubber
coated copper wire that connects to the alternator
alone, maybe it arced while the Jeep was idling
and fried something causing it to stall?
It's my only vehicle and I've been catching rides for
cash. So I gotta figure it out or scrap it. Any
suggestions would be wonderful

First, replace the crankshaft position sensor. It's on the driver's side on the bell housing near the fire wall. This thing haunted my jeep for six months before I discovered it was the potential culprit.
