Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Yesterday I pulled to a stop and when I tried to take off it sounded like something in the front end dropped, refusing to take off from the red lite I gave more gas and it clunked into drive mode, took off, but barely and slow. I drove slow home but it smelled lie something burning and the steering seemed loose or my imagination from stressing about getting home..i haven't tried it yet today and weathers so bad I haven't found anyone to look at it yet...any ideas, anyone?

Sounds like a caliper is stuck. Jack both sides up and put stands under it.Put it in neutral and see which wheel won't turn or is hard to turn. That's the bad one.
thanks for ur answers......I went out to move it and what ever was stuck isn't anymore, or at the moment, what's the chance that the 4WD stuck when I had previously turned it off yesterday? I drove Hwy about 20 miles after turning 4WD off before I had to stop at a red lite, it was when I started to pull out from the red lite the problem started and actually when I got home and pulled in a driveway to turn around and park is when it seemed like maybe what happened stopped, but I was too freaked to drive it any more. It worries me that I was going to have it towed tomorrow but it seems drivable so that I could drive it to be serviced, but also, it's to be -15 tomorrow in lovely Madison, Wi and breaking down on the way doesn't sound fun....any more ideas?
No, the caliper had a chance to cool down and will stick again once you start using the brakes.
thanks again, I didn't get it to anywhere today, places closed allover due to freezing temps...I hope it is just the caliper...I can deal with havin that fixed...thanks
