my honda crv not blowing cold air from a/c is this common ?

Not that I know of, are you still under warranty?
Yes. Mine doesn’t work either. 2017 Honda CRV Touring. I have 20,000 miles and no a/c. I’ve had the vehicle for 39 months. Just past the warranty. I’ve read many forums and there are many complaints with this CRV about the a/c system. So far no recall for this issue. Please fix soon.
Same - just happened - 24k miles
Same here 37k miles with warranty expired just 1k miles ago ☹️
33,000 miles same problem. Car turned 3 just 4 months ago. Tomorrow will be my 3rd trip to the dealer in 3 weeks for the same problem. No cold air and weak air flow.
2010 crv with 180,000 mine quit a year ago
I have the same problem, less than 30,000 miles on the car but no longer under warranty, very disappointed, seems to be a common issue.
2018 CRV. Same problem. Been to dealers 3 times. Works when the dealer has it. Works intermittently. Ready to get rid of the car, but to a major loss.
119000km and mine stopped just over two years old. First and last Honda I will ever purchase.
119000km just over two years old and no AC. Not impressed and quoted at least $1000 for a no guarantee repair at Honda. Rust spots all over the rear door, engine recall, horrible front seats and gets louder to drive all the time. Was hesitant to buy this vehicle in the first place but so many friends recommended it. Should have went with my gut, first and last Honda I will ever own!!
I have a 2018 Honda CRV that I bought last year. The AC was not blowing cold air last week. I took it to the dealership and they said it was due to a faulty wiring. Got fixed that day and then yesterday, it stopped blowing cold air again.
How disappointing and depressing. Found out at the dealer it will cost $1375 to fix the leak in the AC system for our 2017 Honda CRV, 38,000 miles. They can't even fix it yet because the compressor is back ordered with no incoming date. Of course we had to pay up front to get it ordered. Don't believe the reviews....3 years old and the AC goes out? Poor quality that doesn't last anymore.
YEP- not cold at ALL! I thought it was just me. I am so disappointed in this car. I really want to like it. I should have gone with my gut and stuck with a Toyota.
My 2017 Touring CRV air conditioner stopped blowing cold air just 4 months after warranty ran out. They tell me it’s going to cost over $500 dollars to just evaluate the problem. I took it to my local mechanic and he does not have the $20,000 mod of equipment to check the newest cars so I’m stuck with the dealer’s prices. Seems unusual to lose ac on a car with 15,000 miles on it.
Just lost the ac on my 2017 CRV touring 13,500 miles and 6 months out of warranty. Blowing cool on passenger side and warm on drivers side. I checked the pressure and had 11 PSI on the low side and 90 PSI at 70 degrees ambient. I'm going add refrigerant and a UV dye to find out where the leak is. This is my fourth Honda and never had a problem with the other three. Very disappointed with my CRV...
My wife's 2018 CRV has issues with the AC as well. Right at 30,000 miles. The blower seems to come on when it wants to. we can have the blower set on full and we'll have to drive almost 10 minutes before it kicks in. The past few weeks the blower will be running high and then go to lower itself for a few minutes before finally blowing back high again. Has anyone else experienced this or is you guys fans blowing the correct speed but blowing hot air?

2018 Honda CRV bought new. AC went out at 40k, least that’s when I needed it and noticed! Havent been to dealer yet, but will be.
Count me as another victim. My 2017 CR-V with only 27,000 miles has all of a sudden developed a leaky evaporator in the A/C system. Cost of repairs approx $2K. Of course about six months out of warranty. This A/C uses the newer 1234yf refrigerant and few shops can work on this other than the dealer. I'm filing an appeal for Honda to cover this through my dealer, but have there been any recalls or class action lawsuits for this Honda A/C problem? Very disheartening as I've enjoyed this vehicle very much.

I also have a 2017 CRV with 021968 miles and the air does not blow cold again. It was recharged back 2/21/19 and was told it was repaired. It now is 6 months out of warranty.
Captain27x answered 3 years ago
I’m having the same issue as well. 2017 CRV Ex with about 65,000 highway miles on it. The AC would completely stop working when it was over 75 degrees outside. Now that it’s colder the heat isn’t working. It’s been a problem since about 10,000 miles, however when I was under warranty the dealer would eventually get it to work and say there was nothing else they could do.

I have a 2018 CRV awd loaded. It is 1 month out of warranty and has 15600 miles. It is just blowing hot air. I am at the dealer where I bought it so will see what happens and let you know. I had a Civic before this and had ac problems with it also. What is going on with Honda? Two in a row with ac problems and low mileage is ridiculous.
2017 model has 34,072 miles. Absolutely no cold air. Bought it used last year not from dealer, not sure what to do other than just accept the loss and trade it in for something more reliable...I donated my 1996 RAV4 stick when my arthritic shoulder just couldn't take the shifting any longer, never had any problems with it and miss it!!!

2017 CRV Touring, $33000 miles, no cold air. Piece of shit! Do the recall already!!!!
Guru9XYTWR answered 3 years ago
2018 CR-V EX owner and AC crapped out around 40,000 miles. Car currently at dealer getting diagnosed some $339 later and found out there is a new refrigerant in the system that you cannot buy elsewhere so only Honda supplies it and as a result they can charge whatever they want to recharge your system for diagnostic purposes. Smells like a scam to me, not happy!
Guru9VWTNJ answered 3 years ago
Hey Guru9XYTWR, Do you hear a hissing noise when you turn on AC? Mine definitely does. As soon as I turn off AC, the hissing went away. Not sure if it is normal. Maybe something is leaking. I don't know. Definitely not happy!
Guru9XX7FS answered 3 years ago
Mine stopped working (compressor clutch would not engage) and it turned out one of the wires on high pressure sensor harness broke. This sensor is on the high pressure tube, near the passenger side fan. I only learned of the issue after researching and another CRV member had the exact same issue. sensor photo attached. DIY solder. reconnected and AC works again.

I just had to pay close to $1700 for a new ac compressor + 'leaky hose' for my 2018 CR-V with 79,050 miles on it. 6 months previously, all 4 fuel injectors needed replaced at the tune of $1500.
Guru9B9G52 answered 3 years ago
Less than 19,000 miles on my 2017 CRV and the air conditioner does not work at all. Of course I'm a few months past the 3 year warranty. I will never buy another Honda again. This is not the only thing that has been a complete disappointment about this vehicle. Kim B. in MN

I have a 2018 CRV. Its ac compressor has failed. My 3-year warranty ended 2.5 months ago. The cheapest dealer in the area quoted me $1800 to replace it. This seems to be a systemic problem. So Honda should extend the 3-year warranty to at least 5 years. But unfortunately Honda is not doing that. What a big mistake I made in buying a new CRV. I should have bought a Toyota RAV-4 instead.
My 2018 CRV also has AC problem. It doesn't blow cool air. While it was 26K miles last year, I already visited dealership to get it fixed. They said it's a faulty wire problem. I didn't drive this car much, it's around 28K miles and it's just a few months past warranty. Just a few days ago, I noticed AC doesn't blow cool air again. I'll need to visit the dealership again. I hope it won't be a huge bill. What a disappointment with Honda. My older 2009 Accord blows much cooler air.
Canadian here with a 2017 CR-V. 65,000 kms on it and my AC started making a "metallic hissing" noise. Took it into the dealer...told me they needed to replace both the suction & discharge hoses plus O-rings as well as perform an AC system recharge - to the tune of $2500 with none of it covered under warranty. Told them - essentially - to "ram it" and that I'd take it elsewhere for a second opinion. My mechanic found NO issues with leaking hoses or O-rings but, due to Honda changing out to the the 1234YF refrigerant, they're unable to do a recharge on the system. When I had the vehicle into the dealer, they'd put a small amount of refrigerant in (I'm assuming to check for leaks) and the "metallic hissing" (the issue that alerted me to a problem in the first place) has disappeared. As I'm trading the vehicle at the end of July, my mechanic advised me to just leave it for now and let the new dealer/owner deal with it down the road - which I'm totally fine with.

We took the car to the dealer last year because we experienced the same issue with our 2017 Honda CR-V Touring. The car had 15,854 miles at the time that we took it to the dealer and just a month or two past the warranty. They found that the compressor has a leak and that the leak had damaged the AC clutch. They wanted $1600 for the repair. We sent an E-Mail to Honda corporate explaining our situation and they replied 2 months later just saying sorry. This is my third Honda and it might be my last. We looked online for the problem and found that Honda Civics from 2016 to 2019 have the same issue with the AC compressor. Honda extended their warranty after a recall. I wonder if the same parts were used in the CR-Vs. After a year+ of not going out too far and with temperatures rising (100F+), we have no choice but to fix it if we want to go places this summer.
2018 CRV A/C low pressure hose failed. After recharge dealer service states compressor failed too. I think Honda has a problem with their compressors and more. I have been back and forth with Honda Corporation to get them to agree that there is an issue with the A/C system on 2018 CRV . So far the back and forth has gotten me nowhere but I will keep on trying. I am out of warranty service due to mileage so I am at the mercy of Honda out of warranty coverage. What are the chances that they will cover some of this almost $1800 dollar repair bill.

The AC of My 2018 Honda CR-V is not working, only drove no more than 8000 miles.
As a follow-up to my story from earlier: I had a very polite-yet-somewhat-heated email exchange with the service manager at my Honda dealership. After pushing the issue with him further and reaching out to my sales advisor, they "appealed to Honda Canada" for me. Yesterday, I received an email from the service manager that Honda Canada will be 100% covering the cost of the repair...$2500. They'll be replacing both the suction & discharge hoses, the O-Rings, and they'll be doing a full system charge & performance test. I suspect that Honda knows there's an issue with the AC system on the CR-V but haven't issued any kind of recall. So, heads-up...if you feel like you're getting screwed, push the matter further and you just might get lucky.

My 2018 CRV at 20k mileage stopped blowing cold air at driver’s side recently and had a hissing sound when the AC was turned on. It’s 4 months over warranty. I contacted several local dealers and they all asked me to pay for the diagnosis fee before appealing to Honda American for reimbursement. The dealer I bought my car from is aware of this issue and told me that Honda Civic 2016-2019 has a recall on its condensers while CRV is not. This dealer is about one hour’s drive from my home and is farther from my home. I don’t know if I get a better chance with this dealer to get the reimbursement from Honda. I won’t buy another car from Honda again. I’m thinking of posting a complaint on BBS

Hey y’all! Wanted to post a solution as I was having the same problem with my ac. I had absolutely no airflow in my 2017 CRV. Definitely was a huge issue when it would rain due to the windshield fogging up! Took it into my dealership and it ended up being a bad blower motor. If you are having similar issues with it not blowing any air when you turn it on, that’s where I suggest starting!

I found some interesting content in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA ) Web site. It seems that some investigation has been requested about this issue. If you are interested, you can view the issue by doing the following: 1. Go to https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2017/HONDA/CR- V/SUV/AWD#manufacturerCommunications. 2. Scroll down until you get to the section titled “206 Manufacturer Communications”. Please note that the number might change. 3. Click on “VISIBILITY” under “Filter Manufacturer Communications by Affected Components”. 4. Expand the reports from March 30, 2021. 5. You can click on the Associated document to view the message or follow this link: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10189868-0001.pdf The summary contains the following text: “Dealer Message - American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (AHM) is searching for certain 2017-2020 CR-Vs with a customer complaint of the A/C only blowing warm air or not blowing cold air. To better understand the cause of this condition, AHM would like to collect specific parts from the vehicle prior to you attempting a repair of any kind.”

I am the poster of Honda CRV 2018 with 20k who posted earlier. My vehicle stopped blowing cold air from both sides, not just the driver side. I am going to take it to a dealer and pay the diagnosis fee to see what’s wrong. Thanks for posting the NHTSA investigation. How can I contact AHM for them to collect specific parts? I need to do it through dealer
Mine, too. 2018 CRV with 28,000 miles but 3 1/2 years old, so out of warranty....of course. Just got an estimate of $450 to recharge the system so they can test for leaks. Will go ahead with the repair and then give them the PDF and ask for "no charge" since it's a known problem. Thank you for posting!!
Took my CRV 2018 (27K miles, 3 months past warranty) to the dealership today. They found that the AC discharge hose leaking, and ordered a new one for me. It will take a few days. They didn't charge me anything today saying it's covered under some kind of extended warranty, which I am not sure what is. I did visit the same dealership to repair another AC issue August last year, which they found a broken clutch wire and repaired it under the 3 year/36K warranty.

I took my car today to be told it would cost $2100 for a new compressor and hose. 2017 CRV with only 17,000 miles. Not at all happy with Honda.
2018 CRV with 22,000 miles, AC just stopped working. I am assuming it is gonna be bad. 2 months out of warranty. I hope they help me a little on the price. Taking it in tomorrow, wish me luck

The ac of my 2018 crv has a leaking inside the compressor. The warrantee expired Nov. of 2020, and I only drove around 7600 miles. The diagnostics costed almost $400, and I asked the dealer to do something. The dealer talked to Honda company and agreed to cover 75% of the repairment —- accept it or leave it. No coverage for diagnostic cost at all. I told them to let the decision maker be awarded: recall for malfunction AC for 2017- 2018 hinder crv.
Guru9CTP1J answered 3 years ago
2018 CRV AC compressor and discharge hose issues...close to $2k to fix it. Super unhappy! I expect more from a newer car.
Finally got AC hose replaced and Freon recharged. They initially quoted me $660 plus tax. After I made some arguments and some negotiation, they finally let it go under good will warranty, so I don't have to pay for anything this time. I'm still uncertain whether anything (especially the compressor) will break in near future. I maybe interested in purchasing extended warranty so that AC repair will be covered in the future.
CRVcostingmeMoney answered 3 years ago
So, I posted a few months ago that my ac failed on my 2018 CR-V with less than 80,000 miles on it. This is after my fuel injectors failed and I had to replace them at my cost. (shopped multiple Honda Dealerships - confirmed the repairs needed.) Sooooo after getting a new AC compressor and a new hose, AC was never quite the same. Then it started blowing warm, then HOT when I was parked with engine running on warm days. THEN the engine temp started to climb, and I got a warning to shut of the vehicle ASAP. Went back to the Honda Dealership AGAIN and they told me that my AC cooling fan was seized up AND my engine cooling fan was also seized up. $700 please, oh, and the parts are on backorder.
Guru9BH68W answered 3 years ago
If you get a new compressor, the warrantee is 3 years or the mileage at replacement = 36,000 miles whichever earlier ——— I was told so by the Honda case manager for my case.
Yepp. Same story as the rest of these folks. 2017 CRV, AC compressor went out just after three years was up. Very disappointed. I've owned Hondas my whole life and thought they were very reliable. I will probably be switching

15,000 km only on my 2019 CRV and AC stopped blowing cold air, along with making a hissing sound. Honda dealership will be replacing a hose and the AC clutch, however, parts are back-ordered and no guaranteed date of when my CRV will be fixed, was told could take over a month..
Guru9CJVNH answered 3 years ago
My 2017 Honda CRV also has AC issues. They want $2,000.00 out of my pocket to replace the air compressor. Naturally it's out of warranty. Honda customer service doesn't call you back. They can't recall because the part "because it's not a safety issue" but they are aware of the complaints. How about a recall of good faith on backing their product. I will never, ever, ever, buy a Honda again.
Guru9LHV21 answered 3 years ago
I am having the same issue. 2017 EX-L, about 75k. A/C blowing warm air. After reading all of these complaints, I too will be calling Honda,
Honda CRV 2018 EX-L. A/C blowing hot air unless temp outside is 80-85 then its slightly cool. 46K and out of warranty. Honda dealer says valve is faulty, slight leak with refrigerant and must replace compressor - $2200 to fix. what??They said they submitted a request to see if Honda will cover..I have zero hope. Was a religious toyota person - this is what I get for leaving Toyota and getting a Honda..never again!! Hope people read these posts before venturing out to a Honda dealer..shame on me for not doing a search.

Leaking A/C compressor, required replacement of compressor and associated hardware
Guru9BC54D answered 2 years ago
2018crvowner, The issue was a leaking A/C compressor. They replaced the compressor and the Clutch Set. The leak damaged the Clutch Set. I encourage everyone who is experiencing this issue to call Honda's customer service, not your dealer. They are aware of the issue but they are not taking the responsibility for the whole cost of the repairs. The cost of the repair was $1962 and they refunded $910. It is better than nothing but I am still not satisfied, specially because it broke so prematurely.
Mine was out of warranty but Honda (not the dealer) covered 80% of the cost of repairs. Clearly the compressors put in these cars during those years were defective.
Guru9PDV9C answered 2 years ago
We have a 2018 CRV that had less than 28k when the AC went out. Dealer replaced compressor to tune of nearly $1700. Filed complaint with BBB but Honda didn’t even respond to them. Filed complaint with Honda and after 3 mos of waiting they offered $500 gift card that can only be used at Honda dealership. That’s not what I consider a “refund” and it’s less than 1/3 of what we had to pay. This is a known problem and Honda is NOT doing the right thing here. Now we’re afraid it’ll happen again because condenser was not replaced (just compressor). Per dealership, both did not need to be replaced but we’ve lost any trust we once had in Honda.
Just returned from my Honda Dealer after they completed their A/C review. I have 98K miles. They indicated a Suction Hose needed to be replaced and the cost was USD 1,015. Part costs about $125 OEM, but labor at $155/hr to remove front bumper and replace the hose is what drives the price to $1,015. No indication compressor/condensor was bad, just suction hose. Last year, Honda dealer out of my home state did a review with dye and noted a small leak, but did provide refrigerant at $110. Got me through the last 3 months of summer. Would gladly go that route again if I could get 3-4 months (through mid- September) of cooling. Placement and access to parts is crazy. Give me a '68 Chevelle where I could see the ground when I opened the hood, and I would be in heaven !
same story with A/C on a 2018 CR-V. Bad compressor $1,800 to $2,400 to fix from dealer. Out of warranty. This should be a recall or lawsuit!
Guru9PFCWB answered 2 years ago
AC started blowing hot last week on my 2019 CRV with only 18,900 miles on it. Took it to the dealer to run a diagnostic ($190), and they said there was a compressor leak and the suction and discharge hoses needed to be replaced as well. Total cost? $4,480! Oh, I'm 3 months out of warranty, of course. Guess I'll bookmark this thread and hope there's a class action at some point...ridiculous.

I wonder if there is some kind of a fix to change the hose, compressor and refrigerant to a more common type.
Same Issue. 2017 Honda CRV. When it hit around 45k miles, started having high pitch sounds coming from the hood and then the ac just started blowing not cool air. Took to the dealership and they said the discharge hose was leaking oil and also the front of AC compressor seal was bad and leaking out front of compressor. Had to have my compressor replaced for 2100$ out of pocket. Then 5 months later, a new blowing sound comes and go that will stop immediately when the AC gets turned off. Took back to the dealership and they said that the fan motor needs to be replaced. Took my car to an independent mechanic who said the sound was coming from the thermal expansion valve or evaporator. Took the car again to the dealership and they're taking a look at it again. I'm done with this car. Should I just sell it once it gets repaired?

So there is now a recall, and a service bulletin. Despite that, my dealer tells me its not leaking from the seal; I need new hoses. Funny part is, the recall requires the replacement of the o- rings for those hoses (discharge and suction) - so I have a hard time a rubber hose went bad - and not the o-rings. Of courses, the hoses aren't covered until the recall. I call BS...

I have a 2017 CRV, with 32,000KM. AC started not blowing cold air. Dealership charged me $149 Canadian for AC Inspection, then they told me there is a technical service bulletin (TSB) for Compressor Shaft Seal leaking, AND, he also told me I have leaks in my Suction and Discharge lines. He wants $850 Canadian just to replace the lines. Anyway, I refused to pay the $149 inspection fee since they admit there is a shaft seal leak TSB, and why should I pay for inspection if they know about the problem. They have ordered a new seal for me (who knows when it will come in). I refused to go for the $850 new lines. I guess I will go to another mechanic for another opinion on those. Dealership tells me what's the point of fixing the seal if the gas will leak out of the lines anyway until I fix them.
2019 Honda CRV At 1 1/2 years my Honda CRV A/C gave out and it was the fan blower. 20 k miles . Now it is 3 years old and it has happened again!! I am beyond mad!! I have 52, 483 k miles ... What is happening with Honda? This is unacceptable with such a young car. I bought this car brand new with 13 miles and I do not drive it a lot. I am so disappointed Honda with your bad 2019 CRV never in my life have I had such a bad experience with a Honda! I've had a Honda since I was 18! I am a true Honda fan but now I don't know if I will continue to be!!! Too many Honda CRVs are having this same issue there needs to be a recall on it or a class action lawsuit!!
2017 Honda CRV, only 26K miles. About a year back AC started blowing hot air on driver side of vents. Dealer charged me $1200 to replace discharge hose. Started having same issue again and now dealer is saying the Evaporator is leaking and it will cost $2200 to replace. Absolutely frustrating. This is my third Honda. I never had such issue with my earlier cars. Honda car mfg quality is declining. It is no more a reliable brand.
