Question type: General
The last owner replaced the 2.5L 4cyl. w/an inline 6cyl. FI engine. I want to know what size and make it is but i can't find any info. The block serial number is 89332985.

Correct. These were drop-ins for the Wrangler as it was the higher-optioned engine for Jeeps.
Give the block & Head number's [if they match] to the steeler they can tell u, but it could be a rebuild & u will never no
depending on if this engine is form the carberated cj age it could b 4.2 liter but if it was an engine from the same years or years as ur jeep it is probably a 4.0
if it is fuel injected and an I-6 it is a 258cubic inch
Thats not true Chris. When they switched to FI the displacement dropped to 4.0L from 4.2L. 4.2L=258 ci. 4.0L=232 ci. The exception is the first year of the FI Jeep used the same 4.2L motor with the new FI system, similar to the kits you can buy today.

jeep dropped the 4.2 first then the 4.0.
i got a 90yj sahara and mine came with the inline 6 th 4.2 but it has a carb on it but its but upgraded to a weber though so i think it started in 91
and the 4.0 started in 1991 and has a amc242 180hp motor and the 4.2 1990 and older had a 258 with only 112hp
or if you really wanna know just write down the numbers on the side of the engine block and call a dodge dealer
i bought my jeep used so i dont know how old mine was i had it for aittle over a year and it started stalling one of the floats was sticking i had it rebuilt for about 120 when i got it back it looked new and runs great i think its a greatcarb but some people dont like them
How do I find out what year my engine is I found a number on the block 53008403 AK
