Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought an '05 Kia Rio with 110,000 miles on it. It has the Check Engine light on
and the code reads a misfire in cylinder #3. I changed the spark plugs and wires,
hoping this would solve the issue but the light remains on. I do not notice any rough
shifting or driving. It actually drives very smooth.. I don't know what to do. I need to get
the light to turn off so that I can finish the transfer of title. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated... Thank you.

Hi Tom, I went to get it re-scanned and this time it showed a misfire in cylinders 1 & 3. I went ahead and reset the codes so the light turned off. I figured since I had just changed out the spark plus and wires, i'd double check them. So i did and they were not calibrated to specs. After I did that, the light stayed off but when I went to move the car the light was on again.

Check and change all 4 coils one for each cylinder the coils are a famous Kia failure and you can find them reasonable online.
