I am trying to replace the spark plug wires on a 2005 Kia Sorento, but I can't get to them on the back side of the engine. Is there a trick to getting to them? What do I need to remove in order to reach them?

Easiest way to gain access would be to removed the upper intake.
best way i can tell you is by feeling the plug with one hand have plug wire in other and install.

you need to remove the upper intake manifold,,and replace the intake gasket at same time,,will save you time from having to remove again

I had to do this myself. The upper intake has to come off. Also when doing this. Check all the seals on your valve covers. They tend to leak right around the time the spark plugs need replacing. You may want to replace them anyway, because there going to leak later if you don't do it.
how do I remove the intake manifold.
You have to pull the intake manifold to get to the everything and I'll also make your job a hell of a lot easier also buy yourself a new Platinum gasket as you don't want to use the old one for is already going to start to deteriorate but time you need new plugs so it would be recommended you replace
