This vehicle is equipped with the hood lift supports (pictured). They look like miniature shocks. These wear out over time and loose their resistance. They can be purchased for around $30 each. Prop the vehicles hood up and remove one at a time. When removed, test it to verify that there is resistance. If it moves freely, then it's wore out, replace. Same for the rear hatch.
