2005 Kia Sorento interior lights do not
work when door opens

Make sure your dome light switch is set to "door".

I have the same problem. Mine are set to "Door" and only the lights on the doors at the bottom work, the only time the overhead lights work with doors open is when I place the dial for the dashboard brightness all the way up and the automatic headlights are turned off. If they are on auto, it only works when the switch is turned on. Otherwise, no overhead lights.

I am officially giving up the idea of having dome lights in my 2021 kia sorrento. There is no info anywhere in the manual to help. The lights are OUT: whether you open & shut doors, turn them on as directed, or turn on the car. No response. This forum sounds like dome lights are a real kia problem! I'm better off not having any than the people who can't get them to go off. At least I'm not running down my battery. The first big negative I've found with my kia after the first 24 hours. None of the advice here did any good either.
