Placement of different size tires.

Asked by Guru3L3ZT Jul 07, 2020 at 11:58 AM about the 2006 Cadillac SRX V8 AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Cadillac SRX.  I have always put larger tires in the rear and smaller in the front per factory recommendations.  The last time I had the tires replaced (approx 2 years ago), the tire shop put them on opposite of factory recommendations.  I have been driving with the larger in the front and the smaller in the back.  Does this affect the vehicle in any way?

Any time you change tire size on the drive axle, it affects the accuracy of your speedometer and on some vehicles, the shifting points.

This could damage the AWD system. Change them back to the correct location.
