How to sell a financed car to an out-of-state buyer

Asked by GuruVW71H Jul 02, 2019 at 09:32 AM about the 2018 INFINITI Q50 3.0t Luxe AWD

Question type: Car Selling & Trading In

My car is already listed here, but I am negotiating a deal externally.  I would like to continue to use CarGurus to handle the transaction.  Complications: my car is still under financing and the buyer is out-of-state (NY, and I am in NJ).  How does this work?  Can they pick up the car without the title?  When/how do they pay the purchase price and when/how do I pay off the loan?  How do they get the title?

Talk to the people at AutoPay about it. You should also talk to your lender.
