Kia sorento stuck in four wheel drive

its not the trans it is the turque convertor lock up solonoid check that

You have to put it in neutral to switch it in and out of fwd low or it will stick in fwd. had the same problem and was told that by the Kia dealer - never had the problem again. :)

just had this problem I put it in neutral and shut it off turned it back on and light went out...my question why isnt these instructions in the manual I was driving around like that for 3 damn days until I looked this up

my 2004 KIA sorento just started dragging to move forward in drive. It takes off fine in low gear and when it gets moving it shifts fine in second and drive. Also the over / drive button / switch is stop working. I changed the throttle position censor and it start started working fine for about ten minutes then it stopped and everything went back as before.

Thanks it just worked for me after my 2004 KIA Sorento got stucked on 4WD Low and looks like the gear wasn't changing while in motion. All I just did as advised above was to put the gear in neutral and turned 0ff the ignition on the neutral gear; then turned on the ignition again....and...bingo!!!! my car is back to normal again and no longer showing 4WD Low. Thanks guys!

Your suggestions have been so helpful - thank you! Our N reg Kia Sorentro went into four wheel drive after driving our daughter to school. The gears didn't change up on the return journey and I limped back home slowly (about 4 miles). Called the RAC and while waiting for them to arrive and thinking the worst that the gear box was on it's way out and would cost thousands to fix, I googled Kia Sorento suck in 4X4 and this site came up. After reading these suggestions went straight to the car turned the ignition on, put it in nutral turned the ignition off and back on again and the light went out! Just then the RAC turned up and suggested I took it for a spin and the car seemed fine changing up and down the gears as normal.... Thank you for your advice - very very helpful indeed!
